Michele Formoso is co-owner of a busy, family-operated Italian pizzeria in Ambler, Pennsylvania, which she and her husband have owned for 16 years.
For many years, her husband operated the restaurant largely on his own while Michele built a career in healthcare, clinical research development. A few years ago, she made a major career change and joined him in the family business full-time. While her husband focuses primarily on the hands-on restaurant operations, Michele works behind the scenes on the administrative, financial, marketing, technology, analytics, and business development side of the operation.
Their pizzeria is open seven days a week and serves pizza made with fresh dough, cheesesteaks, hoagies, Italian specialties, dinners, and a wide variety of family favorites. The business offers takeout and dine-in seating, but its niche has always been fast, hot delivery. They operate their own fleet of wrapped delivery vehicles and take pride in providing reliable delivery while maintaining the personal connection of a locally owned business.
For Michele, entering the restaurant industry after spending most of her career in healthcare has been both a challenge and an education. She enjoys using her background in data and research to look at the business differently, improve operations, understand customers, embrace new technology, and continue finding ways to grow.
Above all, she and her husband are proud to run a family business that has been part of the Ambler community for more than a decade. Michele is also a mom of two boys, ages 19 and 12, and is excited to connect with other women in the pizza industry, share ideas, learn from their experiences, and build relationships with women facing many of the same opportunities and challenges.
