Born and raised in Sonora, Mexico, Marisol didn’t work with dough until starting her bagel company in Mississippi in 2016. She studied at the prestigious Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana in Napoli, Italy, and at the Scuola di Pizzaiolo outside Naples.Â
With more than two decades of experience in the restaurant industry, this is Marisol’s first brick-and-mortar establishment in downtown Cleveland, Mississippi. Leña Pizza + Bagels was recognized among the top pizzerias in the USA by The New York Times and earned a spot on the 2024 Top 100 Best Pizza Chefs list. Leña Pizza + Bagels has also been featured in Bon Appétit, Garden & Gun Magazine, The Local Palate, Pizza Today, and PMQ Magazine.Â
